Few creatures can survive an Antarctic winter. But conditions used to be very different. On the few ice free patches of land are clues to a tropical past; giant fossillised animals from a disappeared sea and petrified trees from tropical forests that once covered the continent.
This superb film explores the exotic history of the last frontier and focuses on its present inhabitants – penguins, seals and whales and other creatures that have adapted to life on this dangerous sea of ice.
